The Big Reveal at St. Louis' Gateway Arch

After a five-year renovation and a boost to national park status, it’s time to party at the St. Louis Gateway Arch.

The Gateway Arch was named a national park early this year, just in time for the completion of its five-year, $380 million revamp. Here's what you can look forward to:

St. Louis Arch

Dance on the Green

A 7.5-acre park known as the North Gateway now links the Arch to the city’s oldest district and entertainment hub, Laclede’s Landing. Native plants, a garden for kids and paths replaced an old parking ramp. Blues at the Arch draws thousands here on Fridays in August.

Play Above the Highway

Gone are the narrow pedestrian bridges across Interstate-44 that poorly connected the Arch to downtown. A wide, grassy path over the highway now links the Arch with the Old Courthouse and areas beyond.

Go Under the Ground

Look up through a glass roof as you enter a new museum hidden under the Arch. Inside, six interactive story zones explore the epochs of St. Louis, from the 1600s to modern day. A new cafe, expanded gift shop and 80-foot video wall have also transformed the visitor experience.

The Big Reveal

This July, Fair St. Louis returns to the Arch, one day after the grand opening of the new Museum at the Gateway Arch. Join the masses for the July 3 ribbon-cutting and America’s Biggest Birthday Party July 4, 6 and 7.

Connect to Downtown

Like a long green carpet, two renovated blocks join the Arch grounds with hotels and city life. A splash pad, playground and events lawn now complement the iconic Olympic Runner statue in Kiener Plaza.

630 Feet Up

After a four-minute tram ride inside the Arch, you can see well into Illinois, up to 30 miles on a clear day.
