Fall Adventures in Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula

Whether you want to rev up or relax, the history-steeped Keweenaw Peninsula has you covered. Lake Superior shoreline, colorful forests and remnants of the country’s first copper boom dominate the remote area’s landscape.

Jutting into Lake Superior, the Keweenaw Peninsula is as far north as you can go in the Upper Peninsula. Visitors pass through the gateway towns of Houghton and Hancock on their way to the tip at Copper Harbor, about 50 miles farther north. Tap the peninsula’s past with a tour of any of the 22 sites within Keweenaw National Historical Park. Overnight at Laurium Manor Inn, a copper baron’s mansion, and then get out and explore, whether you crave an active adventure or a more chill experience.
