Ingredients

  • 12 whole cloves
  • 6 whole allspice
  • 1 cinnamon stick, broken
  • 3 cups cranberries
  • 2 cups peeled and sectioned oranges (3 to 4 oranges)
  • 1 cup cranberry-apple drink
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup golden raisins
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons orange liqueur (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Place the cloves, allspice, and cinnamon on a 6-inch square piece double thickness 100 percent cotton cheesecloth. Bring up corners and tie with clean kitchen string.
  2. Combine the remaining ingredients in a large saucepan; add the spice bag. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes or until slightly thickened. Remove and discard spice bag before serving. Serve warm or cover and chill up to 1 week. Makes about 4 cups.
